Always be the hardest worker in the herd.

a rainy day, sorting cattle, and a sick calf.

When that mad momma cow is giving you THE LOOK, get out dodge.

If you are lost, go to the barn or pasture. Sometimes the best therapist has four legs and hair.

when you are done, get up and brush yourself off. You don’t belong down there.

But the best stories always start with “We probably shouldn’t have, but…”

unless it’s to admire your boots.

There are worse things in a fast food cheeseburger than dirt. That $8 sandwhich from the food stand is too expensive to waste.

Wholeness is. Remember your roots and be proud of who you are and the cattle you work.

only as nice as you’re able without compromising yourself. Take care of YOUR cattle and people first.

You CAN get that heifer broke. Nothing is impossible. The word itself says “I’m possible”.

and be your own hero. It’s never wrong to do the right thing and you never know when little eyes at the stock show are watching.

Insincerity is nothing to aspire to. Be humble, win or lose, in the show ring. Become better, not bitter.

some people are investments and some people end up as bills. Know the difference.

In particular, with cows, stock shows, and road trips with the truck and trailer.

Keep their head up and keep your heart strong.

Then work on your calf until they set up every time.

you become more committed to your dreams than your comfort zone. You earn your banners during practice, you simply pick them up as you exit the show ring.

Don’t let anyone ever make you feel like you are not. If someone does, walk away. You deserve better. Find a stock show family that inspires you to work harder, be better, and do more.
